Province of Western Mortea
Western Mortea was formed after the administration of the original province of Mortea became unweildy, and the province split into two separate provinces. Mortea was formed in 531. Originally located on the western shores of Eumasia (where Eastern Mortea is now), settlers still wanting to be part of Mortea moved across the Straights of Eumasia to the eastern shorts of Artasia (where Western Mortea is now). At first this was not a problem, but at the populations grew local communities began to feel that seperate representation in the Belizo government would be appropriate. In 842 Mortea was split into two provinces: Eastern Mortea and Western Mortea.
Both Eastern and Western Mortea are primarily mining and fishing communities. Western Mortea has some farming, and a small fruit tree industry in the west portion of the province.
