Version:- 1.0.8 Date:-11/01/05
Unzip the Traveller_Heaven_&_Earth.ZIP to a temporary directory. Select SETUP.EXE to install the program on your system. The program requires Internet Explorer or the file SHDOCVW.DLL to be installed on your system. Any existing Versions of H&E should be uninstalled prior to installing a new version. The System Data File (*.DTA) is backwards compatible with previous versions of the program.
Check that MFC42.DLL, and MSVCRT.DLL are both present in your Windows\System folder. These component files are available as ZIP files from within the main H&E ZIP file. You may also require CTL3D32.DLL which is also present within the H&E ZIP file. Make sure that you install the correct version of the DLL. CTL3D32_95 for Windows 95 & 98 and CTL3D32_NT for Windows NT. Users of Windows 2k & Me will need to check for availability for OS specific versions of this component.
Some users may have to register components manually by running the following command from the 'Run' option in the Windows 'Start' menu, for example:-
regsvr32 TwistedPixel.ocx
regsvr32 TwistedPNG.dll
regsvr32 TwistedTiff.dll
(Window 95 users cannot use ths function)
For File Associations to register correctly you will need to restart Windows.
The following course of action should fix the 'UNKNOWN ERROR' problem some users have been having when attempting to run the program:-
Check for duplicates of the following files:-
AsycFilt.dll
ComCat.dll
ComDlg32.ocx
Ctl3D32.dll
Mfc42.dll
MsComCtl.ocx
MsvBvm50.dll
MsvCrt.dll
OleAut32.dll
OlePro32.dll
TwistedPixel.ocx
TwistedPNG.dll
TwistedTiff.dll
VB5StKit.dll
The only location that these files should be present is in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM folders. Back-up then delete any duplicates.
H&E should run without error after you have completed this process.
Heaven & Earth will run on any PC running Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT or ME. However, the following is the recommended system for running Heaven & Earth:-

V1.0.3
V1.0.2
V1.0.1
Occasional error during Full Sector Generation when 'Save Data Only' is not selected. Pending.
There are a number of issues regarding the routines for displaying 'Important NPCs'. Pending.
Some Systems cannot sustain the planetary bodies assigned to them. The program will try to place all bodies, but will not always succeed. Symptoms may include, missing gas giants or planetoids belts and mainworld as satellite codes not working correctly. The System simply does not have enough orbits to place all planetary orbits. This is a fault of the 'canon' sector files and is not a fault of the program.
UWP can be directly input to H&E using a Command Line Arguement as follows:-

"Heaven & Earth.exe" UWP: 0104 Khouth A8C3999-D Hi Fl Cp 420 Vf M3 V
The UWP string must have the same layout as the HES File format.
It is hoped that authors of other Sector Builder programs (Astrogator, Galactic, Hexmap etc.) will build this feature into their own programs. This would allow users to call H&E after selecting a System from these programs.
